Performance was just fine up until this stupid patch. I've got a 5900X, 32GB RAM, and Titan RTX with the game installed on an NVMe drive. I guess I'll have to turn graphics down if I want to play it but that shouldn't be necessary. Since the patch, on the same settings, I'm getting 40fps at best, 30ish most of the time, with occasional dips down to 20. I was getting a steady 60+fps with occasional rare dips down to 45-50 in really intense fights. I have a really powerful PC, been playing on Ultra with RTX cranked since launch. I legitimately lost 20+fps from the performance I was getting at launch. This morning I finally booted up HL again and noticed a new patch installed. What you're experiencing is cognitive dissonance, where you're already invested this far, you might as well keep going- all the while ignoring the cost of holding onto a bad investment (the investment of time and hardware resources stolen by McAfee). Is anyone else having brutal performance issues since the patch? I played for around 20 hours since launch but haven't had time to play the last few days. Ironically, McAfee is itself malware, since it hogs your resources, spams you with useless messages, and to top it all off, it convinces some to give up their information to not only Microsoft, but also a "third-party virus-protection-virus."ĭon't put value on it because it was free- that's asinine. If you don't have it, how will you be protected? "Oh no! It's expiring and now I'm ambivalent about other free choices! Better pay!" McAfee's business model is to upsell you through fear. You got it free because no one in their right mind would seek it out.ĭefender is fine, and also a part of your OS, meaning it gets continued support. You must hate your system resources to keep McAfee around.
